Prepare a loading and elevator brief for demolition
- scope planning
- trade handover
What building arrangements should be settled before removal crews arrive?
A logistics brief joining work area, carrying route and building booking.
Trace one continuous route
Mark the route from the work area to the vehicle loading point. Include doorways, turns, corridors, elevators and any temporary storage proposed along the way. Confirm the arrangement with property management rather than assuming the shortest path is available.
Give the crew the relevant building instructions and a contact who can resolve access on the day. A booking reference alone does not describe the route or establish that equipment and loads are suitable for it. Those limits need confirmation from the responsible building and project parties.
Coordinate protection and shared use
Agree which floors, doors and elevator surfaces need protection, who installs it and who accepts its condition. Record how other occupants and trades use the same route. Do not assume that a service elevator booking gives exclusive use of every corridor leading to it.
Distinguish permitted access times from the time noisy work is allowed. Building arrangements and applicable municipal requirements both need to be respected. Calls answered at any hour are not a promise of unrestricted working hours.
Plan for a missed or changed booking
Identify who should be contacted if the dock is occupied, the elevator is unavailable or the agreed route changes. Keep an alternative as a proposal for review, not an automatic instruction to use public or neighbouring space.
Use this brief with a commercial strip-out enquiry. It complements the removal scope by making the carrying and loading arrangements reviewable before work begins, and gives the handover team a record of which shared areas to inspect afterwards.
Copy this planning record
Use one entry per item or work area. Add the drawing or photograph reference, record unknowns explicitly and name the person who will resolve them. Keep the completed record with the agreed scope; the blank fields below are a discussion aid.
- Work area to vehicle route: ____________________
- Building contact / booking: ____________________
- Confirmed route constraints: ____________________
- Protection / shared use: ____________________
- Change contact / final inspection: ____________________
Bring the scope to a site review
Request an estimate with the location, the proposed removals and what must stay. Mention the unresolved items in this record so they can be discussed before the scope is agreed.
