Scope and fit

Selective Demolition in Mississauga

Selective demolition removes only what the plan calls for, a wall, a section of ceiling or an opening, while the floors, trim and rooms around it are protected. It suits occupied homes and working offices in Mississauga and nearby Peel Region communities.

What's included

  • Removal limited to the agreed wall, ceiling or opening
  • Protection of neighbouring finishes and occupied routes
  • Debris handling within the agreed work area

The written scope confirms the exact limits for your property.

Scope boundaries

Selective removal does not establish whether a wall carries load. Any structural support, service relocation and reinstatement must be resolved separately in the plan.

Before we plan the work

Mark what stays and what goes. We review the condition of adjoining finishes, access and the ability to separate the work zone from people using the building.

Selective removal suits a defined opening or alteration where surrounding finishes remain. Agreeing the boundaries and documenting retained surfaces is as important as naming the element to remove.

A limited scope still needs material and service information. If the plan affects support, the structural design and sequence must be resolved before demolition.

Assessment to handover

  1. 01

Floors are covered, doorways sealed and furniture wrapped.

  3. 03

    Edge scoring

Cut lines are scored so finishes break at the boundary.

  4. 04

    Removal

Material comes out in pieces, with structure kept until shoring is ready.

Planning questions

What is the difference between selective and full interior demolition?

Full interior demolition takes a space back to the studs. Selective demolition removes only defined parts, such as one wall or an opening, and protects everything around them.

Can you remove a wall without damaging my hardwood floors?

Yes. We cover the floor right to the wall with protective film or sheeting and remove material in pieces rather than letting it drop. Our photos show exactly this setup on a finished hardwood floor.

Do I need an engineer to remove a wall?

If the wall is load-bearing, you will need an engineer's design for the beam and a building permit from the City of Mississauga. Non-structural partitions usually do not need either, but we will check before we start.

Can you work in an office while it stays open?

In many cases, yes. We contain the dust, keep routes clear and plan the noisiest parts of the work around your hours.
