Scope and Handover
Decide what leaves with an old shed
- scope planning
- trade handover
Does shed removal include its contents, platform and footings?
A shed inclusion checklist distinguishing contents, structure and base.
Make three lists instead of one
Separate the contents of the shed, the structure itself and the base underneath. Stored tools, chemicals and personal items are not automatically demolition waste. Empty what you intend to keep and identify anything requiring a separate handling route before the work is agreed.
Photograph the shed on all accessible sides and show the path to the loading point. Record nearby fences, trees and retained surfaces. A narrow gate or a turn beside the house can matter more to the removal plan than the shed’s footprint alone.
Look below the floor without assuming the base
The shed may sit on a timber platform, blocks, a slab or another support arrangement. Record what is visible and what remains unknown. Decide whether the base stays for a replacement or leaves with the structure; ask the new installer what condition they need.
Any connected services need the appropriate release before removal. Applicable approvals and site constraints should be checked for the actual property and structure. A small building is not a reason to assume that every condition is the same.
Agree the yard handover
Define the treatment of fasteners, loose debris, exposed supports and holes. If levelling, base preparation or replacement construction is needed, put that work on a separate line with a named contractor. A cleared footprint is not the same as a completed new shed base.
CoreCut’s residential demolition service includes outbuildings. A short contents-and-base list gives the site review enough detail to establish the removal boundary without inventing what sits beneath the shed.
Copy this planning record
Use one entry per item or work area. Add the drawing or photograph reference, record unknowns explicitly and name the person who will resolve them. Keep the completed record with the agreed scope; the blank fields below are a discussion aid.
- Contents retained / removed separately: ____________________
- Shed structure: ____________________
- Known / unknown base: ____________________
- Access and retained features: ____________________
- Required cleared-footprint condition: ____________________
Bring the scope to a site review
Request an estimate with the location, the proposed removals and what must stay. Mention the unresolved items in this record so they can be discussed before the scope is agreed.
