What information should pass between the removal crew and the replacement-structure contractor?

A responsibility register keyed to the engineer’s drawing, without prescribing support design.

Use one current design reference

The demolition crew and the contractor installing replacement structure need the same current drawings and instructions. Record the revision and identify which elements each contractor is responsible for. A verbal description of a beam or opening is not a substitute for the responsible designer’s detail.

The sequence and temporary condition must be resolved by the appropriate professionals before removal. This handover checklist records responsibility; it does not specify shoring, member sizes or a safe removal sequence.

Assign the interface between crews

Identify who provides, checks and manages any temporary support within the agreed design. Confirm who communicates that the receiving area is ready and who may authorise the next stage. Do not assume a crew can change or remove support because another contractor has arrived.

Record access for the new materials and the removal route for debris. Protect retained finishes and keep the agreed inspection areas available. If exposure reveals something different from the drawings, the affected work needs review before proceeding under a guessed detail.

Document what the next contractor accepts

At handover, identify completed removals, retained elements and unresolved conditions by drawing reference. Include relevant photographs and the responsible contacts. Assign later inspections, closing of finishes and final repairs within the overall project scope.

CoreCut carries out structural demolition to the agreed design. Bring the replacement contractor’s interface requirements to the site review so removal ends at a clear, coordinated handover rather than an assumption that the next stage is ready.

Copy this planning record

Use one entry per item or work area. Add the drawing or photograph reference, record unknowns explicitly and name the person who will resolve them. Keep the completed record with the agreed scope; the blank fields below are a discussion aid.

Bring the scope to a site review

Request an estimate with the location, the proposed removals and what must stay. Mention the unresolved items in this record so they can be discussed before the scope is agreed.
