Define concrete removal within a parking-garage renovation

By CoreCut Demolition

  • Concrete scope
  • Trade coordination

A parking-garage rehabilitation can involve finishes, toppings, local concrete areas or structural members. They are not interchangeable removal items. Begin with the engineer's or responsible specialist's scope rather than interpreting a visible crack as a demolition boundary.

CoreCut can assess the specified concrete-cutting and concrete-removal contribution. Repair design, reinforcement treatment, waterproofing and the completed rehabilitation remain separate responsibilities.

Identify the assembly on the drawing

Show the level, grid or stall reference and the construction involved. Distinguish a surface layer from the structural slab beneath it. Include available records and the condition of the space above and below the work.

Ask the responsible professional to resolve uncertain boundaries. An outline drawn around visible damage is not necessarily the required removal limit. The contractor assessment follows the issued scope and flags conditions that do not match it.

This comparison supplies no removal method, depth or structural diagnosis. A specialised preparation requirement must be assessed explicitly; concrete-removal services do not automatically include hydrodemolition or post-tensioning repair.

Review access on both sides

Identify parking, circulation and occupied areas affected by the proposed work, not just the stall where it begins. Management and the GC establish closures and material routes. A route suitable for cars is not automatically suitable for the proposed concrete-handling arrangement.

The slab engineer-review guide explains why structure belongs in preparation. For a multi-floor service change, the riser-renewal guide addresses how individual openings relate vertically.

Hand over to the rehabilitation contractor

An illustrative local repair could have CoreCut assess only an issued concrete-removal area, followed by another contractor's specified preparation and repair. Inspection of the receiving condition belongs in that sequence. Removing the concrete does not warrant the repaired slab or certify that the garage can reopen.

Request an assessment with the professional scope, marked location, access conditions and receiving contractor's detail. Identify specialist requirements early so the agreed removal does not silently absorb the wider rehabilitation contract.
