Commercial floor-covering removal
CoreCut assesses floor-covering removal for commercial interiors in Mississauga and across the GTA. Start with the finish that leaves and the surface the next installer needs.
A covering-only package, an assessed adhesive-removal package and concrete slab removal are different scopes. We define the accepted layers before treating them as one job.
Scope and fit
Describe the visible material, known previous layers and the areas affected. Carpet, resilient flooring and hard finishes can meet retained cabinetry, partitions or different adjacent floors. Mark those transitions so the removal does not rely on a room-area figure alone.
The new installer should identify its receiving requirements. Removing a finish does not certify the exposed substrate for a replacement system. Unknown adhesive or backing is an assessment question, not permission to remove every layer until the surface looks clean.
A reception refresh might remove selected covering beside retained offices. A vacant-unit refit may include a wider floor area after fixed interiors leave. Both need defined edges and material load-out, but neither automatically includes grinding, levelling, coating removal or new floor installation.
What's included
- Assessment of the identified covering and known layer information
- Removal of the layers specifically accepted in the scope
- Defined boundaries at retained rooms, fixtures and floor transitions
- Agreed collection and load-out of the removed material
- Review of the exposed condition with the receiving contractor
Scope boundaries
Landlord handover requirements control what stays. Live services, fire systems, structural work, hazardous materials and new fit-out work are not assumed to be part of a strip-out.
Assessment and sequence
- 01
Define the finish
Identify the covering, area and known layer changes. Arrange appropriate material assessment before disturbance; appearance alone does not identify an adhesive or backing.
- 02
Agree the endpoint
Reconcile the receiving installer's requirements with the accepted removal. Record any preparation or repairs that need another provider.
- 03
Review the handover
Check the agreed removal limits and note exposed conditions requiring direction. A cleared floor is not an approval of the next installation.
Before we start
Have the floor plan, known material information and new installer's requirements available. Identify retained fixtures, access routes and other trades using the area.
For a staged business refurbishment, the owner and GC assess occupancy and separation. We do not infer uninterrupted use from a covering-only request.
Frequently asked questions
Is adhesive removal included?
Only where assessed and explicitly accepted. State what the next installer requires and what is known about the material. Do not assume covering removal also supplies every type of surface preparation.
Does the concrete floor need to come out?
Not simply because its covering changes. Concrete work follows a separate design and assessment. The substrate-handover guide helps distinguish the exposed floor from a prepared installation surface.
